Residency restrictions

City of Houston residents. Recycling-only visits require a current Texas-issued ID; hazardous waste or bulk drop-off requires a Texas ID plus a current City of Houston utility bill or lease agreement with a matching address.

Quantity limits

Chemical waste (acids, aerosol cans, degreasers, fertilizers, herbicides, household chemicals, pesticides) limited to 100 lbs combined weight per visit, not bagged. Automotive fluids (antifreeze, brake fluid, cooking oil, drain cleaners, kerosene, motor oil, power steering fluid, solvents, transmission fluid, varnishes) limited to 25 quarts. Paint and paint stains/thinners limited to 25 gallons each. Fuels limited to 15 gallons, gas cans must remain at the center or be poured into a clean, lidded bucket before arrival, staff won't pour it. Electronics limited to 5 large items combined per visit (up to 5 PCs plus 2 TVs 30 inches or smaller). Fluorescent bulbs limited to 10 four-foot or 6 eight-foot bulbs. Microwaves limited to 2 per visit. Propane and helium tanks limited to 5-gallon size. Tires limited to 5 per residence per month, no commercial vehicle tires.
